Configuration-as-code for selected Purview controls

Microsoft Purview Configuration Engineering & Drift Management.

Know what’s configured. Know what changed. Validate what works.

NLCS helps organizations establish a controlled, evidence-driven way to inventory, baseline, compare, and govern selected Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 security/compliance settings.

What this service creates

A governed configuration practice—not a folder of scripts.

01

A bounded inventory of selected Purview and Microsoft 365 security/compliance configuration.

02

An approved, versioned baseline with resource-level dependencies and known limitations documented.

03

A repeatable workflow for reviewing drift and promoting approved configuration changes.

04

Evidence that distinguishes configuration alignment from DLP control effectiveness.

The NLCS Purview engineering lifecycle

Evidence moves through a deliberate control loop.

The lifecycle uses Microsoft365DSC, Security & Compliance PowerShell, native exports, and selected Microsoft Graph patterns only where they are documented, appropriate, and validated for the client environment.

Interactive delivery architecture

A controlled loop, not a one-time export.

Select a stage to see the decision and evidence it creates. Monitoring feeds the next discovery and architecture review.

Controlled promotion, evidence, and feedback

↻
Monitoring findings return to Discover so the baseline and architecture evolve with the client environment.

A connected service journey

From architecture question to controlled operating model.

Each offering builds on the previous one. NLCS can begin at the stage that matches the client’s current need.

01

Purview Architecture & Assessment

Document the current state, design gaps, regulated environment constraints, and roadmap before defining configuration scope.

02

Purview Implementation & Engineering

Engineer labels, sensitive-information types, DLP policies, endpoint controls, and approved supporting automation.

03

Purview Configuration Management

Establish validated Microsoft365DSC baselines, Git-based governance, comparison routines, deployment controls, and evidence handling.

04

DLPlytics — DLP Effectiveness Assessment

Use configuration evidence, approved test cases, Activity Explorer data, incident trends, and policy analysis to assess DLP effectiveness. DLPlytics is an NLCS consulting methodology—not a software product.

05

Continuous Purview Governance

Run periodic drift reviews, change analysis, exception management, policy optimization, and executive reporting.

Client engagement workflow

Clear phases. Concrete work products.

For GCC High, Phases A–D are commonly planned across 8–16 calendar weeks. Baseline, governance, and validation work can overlap after approval gates are met; access, cloud-specific validation, licensing, client change control, and endpoint readiness determine the final schedule.

PHASE A1–2 weeks

Initial Assessment

Tenant authorization, access review, requirements collection, workload discovery, and configuration assessment.

Begins at mobilization; timing depends on access, documentation, and stakeholder availability.

Deliverable

Purview Configuration Assessment Report

PHASE B2–4 weeks

Baseline Engineering

Export supported configuration, review settings and dependencies, document gaps, and obtain baseline approval.

May overlap the end of assessment after the target workloads, roles, and evidence path are approved.

Deliverable

Purview Configuration Baseline Package

PHASE C2–4 weeks

Configuration Governance

Set up repository structure, drift-comparison procedures, validation scripts, change paths, and reporting.

Can run alongside late baseline work when the client has approved source control, secrets management, and change governance.

Deliverable

Configuration Governance Playbook

PHASE D2–4 weeks

Operational Validation

Run controlled tests, investigate material deviations, validate selected DLP controls, and record corrective actions.

Starts after the selected controls are ready for pilot; DLP validation requires approved synthetic test data and workload-specific evidence.

Deliverable

Configuration Drift & Control Validation Report

PHASE E4–6 weeks to stabilize, then recurring

Continuous Governance

Conduct scheduled assessments, change reviews, exception tracking, and architecture recommendations.

Initial operating cadence follows implementation; recurring reviews are typically monthly, with deeper architecture reviews scheduled as needed.

Deliverable

Monthly Purview Governance Report

Engagement options

Start with the problem you need to solve.

Exact effort, prerequisites, and exclusions are confirmed after scoping the tenant, cloud, selected workloads, access model, and delivery objective. Pricing is discussed privately after an architecture consultation.

Validate the path before you automate it

Bring us the tenant question—not a preselected tool.

NLCS will scope the configuration objective, target cloud, in-scope resources, dependencies, evidence needs, and approval path before recommending an engineering approach.
