Microsoft Fabric data governance architecture
Connected data governance and security visibility
Purview, Fabric & Security Integration
Connect governance and reporting to the information protection program.
NLCS combines hands-on Fabric and Power BI consulting experience with Purview architecture to scope governance, compliance analytics, and security integrations. Specific integrations and platform components are evaluated for the customer’s supported environment.
Target engagement outcome
Connected governance, security visibility, and actionable reporting within the agreed supported architecture.
An objective for the scoped engagement, evaluated against agreed acceptance criteria—not a guaranteed result or a claim of prior customer outcomes.
Capabilities within a scoped engagement
Technical work that connects to an operating outcome.
Specific deliverables are selected after discovery. NLCS scopes the environment, access, dependencies, cloud support, and responsibility boundary before confirming an implementation plan.
Data discovery, cataloging, and lineage for supported sources
Power BI governance and compliance analytics
Purview and Microsoft Sentinel supported alert integration
Security operations and policy effectiveness reporting
Microsoft Entra identity and access considerations
Data protection architecture across supported Microsoft services
How NLCS delivers
Hands-on from requirements through transition.
Assess the current environment, business requirements, data flows, target cloud, and ownership.
Design the target architecture and agree the scope, dependencies, success criteria, and change process.
Implement approved changes, simulate or pilot where supported, and test expected versus observed behavior.
Document findings, configuration evidence, runbooks, and accountable owners for operational handoff.
Security engineering lifecycle
Assess, architect, implement, validate, operationalize, and optimize.
Assess
Review existing Microsoft security configurations, data risks, and operational requirements.
Architect
Design security controls, integrations, evidence paths, and investigation workflows.
Implement
Configure approved Microsoft security capabilities and integration components.
Validate
Test configurations and document expected versus observed results.
Operationalize
Establish investigation procedures, evidence collection, and security-team handoffs.
Optimize
Improve control effectiveness, detection quality, and configuration consistency.
Connected services
Work across the data and protection lifecycle.
Microsoft support, licensing, and feature status
Validate the actual workload before committing the control.
Catalog, lineage, labels, and enforcement are different
OneLake catalog provides native Fabric discovery and item-level governance. Enterprise catalog scanning and lineage depend on supported sources and permissions. Sensitivity labels do not replace Power BI access controls or protect every export path.

DLP support varies by item type, data format, connection mode, workspace, capacity, licensing, and evaluation trigger. Restrict-access functionality is documented as preview. Commercial, GCC, GCC High, and DoD availability must be reviewed separately.

The Defender XDR connector can import supported DLP incidents into Sentinel; related Office 365 activity needs the relevant CloudAppEvents path. The separate Purview Sentinel solution uses data-sensitivity diagnostic logs, not a blanket DLP-alert feed. Tuning, ingestion, license, and retention settings matter.

Microsoft availability and preview status can change; scope approval includes a fresh tenant-specific check. These are documented capabilities and constraints, not claims of completed NLCS customer deployments.
